Job Description

Our Client, the makers of a publishing platform to publish animated stories and comic books on tv and VR units is seeking an experienced Graphics Engineer to design a cross-platform game engine.

The company’s engineers and designers collaborate with the world’s most-renowned comic book creators and graphic pioneers to evolve their transformative platform. Their authoring tools bring sound, motion and dimension to the comic book creators and graphic pioneers words and images; their publishing pipeline distributes their client’s works to a vast digital marketplace; and their ever-growing lineup of clients delivers their stories to fans in a uniquely compelling experience.

They are looking for creative engineering superheroes/superheroines to join their digital storytelling vanguard. 

Their cross-platform game engine is written in C++ and using Open GL. There is a basic framework in development, but there is much left to do, both for performance, as well as many new features for VR and AR.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience with graphics programming, C++, and Open GL. The short description is that, if you're a seasoned game engine developer, but you're tired of the game industry, this is the job for you.

The ideal candidate should also have experience:

  • Working with the artists to define new engine features for greater storytelling potential
  • Dealing with constraints on varying implementations of the Open GL standards
  • Optimizing performance and memory / bandwidth constraints

Bonus points for the following:

  • Electron (or similar cross-platform desktop application development, i.e. NW.js, node-webkit)
  • WebVR and/or WebGL, OpenGL, THREE.js

The Lead Graphics Engineer must be a motivated self-starter, capable of driving execution of multiple concurrent projects to completion. They should be obsessed with quality but capable of shipping “good” while iterating toward “perfect.” 

They should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, write clear and concise documentation and proactively communicate project statuses. They should be curious, passionate and enthusiastic learners, capable of sharing their knowledge with others. They should champion best practices (design, performance, testing, security, etc.) and enjoy mentoring their peers.
