Job Description

A tenured HR Business Partner, overseeing human resources functions for our client – with specific and direct responsibilities for employees that mostly reside within our San Mateo headquarter office location (as well as other offices, as assigned). This role will be a local subject matter expert for all areas of HR and HR compliance within our client's offices including, but not limited to employee relations, benefits, leave of absences, compliance, recruitment, development, training and other HR Services functions within the organization, adhering to vigorous and changing regulatory compliance and retention guidelines.


  • Lead HR, employment and employee relations activities for assigned entities
  • Review and approve all employment actions
  • Lead and facilitate hire and termination activities
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs, providing exceptional client service
  • Ensure record retention of employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations and termination
  • Monitor the compliance of company, local, state and federal employment laws
  • Prepare and analyze data, making appropriate recommendations based on data analytics results
  • Facilitate the bi-annual performance evaluation process, inclusive of appropriate compensation review processes
  • Conduct employee relations activities, including investigations and coaching
  • Create performance improvement plans, documentation emails, written warnings and all other necessary supporting documentation
  • Working with internal CoE, support recruiting and training efforts, identifying and making recommendations for necessary training and development
  • Working with internal CoE, regularly provide guidance on compensation, using both client specific and industry-standard compensation best practices
  • Maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Perform all other HR and business duties, as assigned


  • 4 year degree from an accredited university is preferred. PHR certification preferred
  • + 4 years in an HR Generalist or HR Partner role, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience supporting both exempt and non-exempt client groups
  • Experience supporting hourly employee client groups
  • Possess accurate and updated knowledge of Federal and State laws applicable to wages, hours, working conditions, safety, etc. to ensure compliance with state and federal legal requirements
  • Be an enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
  • Bias for action, strong work ethic and desire to achieve excellence
  • Strong business and HR acumen, including ability to diagnose and analyze problems and drive appropriate solutions
  • Ability to translate client business plans and goals into human resource capabilities needed to achieve results
  • Comfort operating in a complex and rapidly changing work environment
  • Ability to influence, coach and partner at all levels of the organization to achieve results
  • Success in creating and driving effective development, employee relations, retention and reward programs
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities and the ability to be comfortable with high volume workload; not being afraid to "roll up your sleeves"
  • Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement


  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and Word
  • Experience with HRIS/payroll software, Workday experience preferred
  • Proactive, ability to self-motivate and work independently
  • Ability to exercise considerable sound judgment
  • Great influencing skills with business side managers
  • Regular reliable attendance and punctuality required
