The Role: The Controller will contribute to the company’s financial success by accurately accounting for the company’s business, providing reliable, up-to-date reports to the leadership team and CFO, providing strong models for the continued aggressive growth, and partnering with the CEO and CFO to create a financial infrastructure to support the company’s future position. This manager will have the opportunity to be on the front lines of the company’s international expansion and exponential growth. This is an ideal position for an individual who is currently a hands-on accounting, finance or a public accounting professional looking to maximize their potential and take the next step in their career.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Managing day-to-day accounting and cash flow requirements
  • Managing licensing agreements
  • Overseeing Staff Accountant’s AP and AR responsibilities
  • Managing Financial Analyst in creating dashboards for management team 
  • Tracking marketing expenditures and credits
  • Leading forecasting, the annual budget process and financial/product analysis
  • Managing all aspects of monthly, quarterly and year-end closings
  • Posting payments and managing collections
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable tax and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinating with external accounting firm for annual financial review
  • Leading the organization’s data and analytics function to empower organizational decision making
  • Providing support to office administrative functions including HR and IT
  • Supervising the finance and administrative team 
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of new systems
  • Providing financial counsel to the leadership team
  • Supporting acquisitions, including financial due diligence and assisting in integration efforts

 

A successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting, finance or business 
  • 5-10 years of professional accounting experience, CPA preferred
  • Expert-level Excel and QuickBooks user; intermediate level MS Office skills; Word and PowerPoint required; NetSuite experience a plus
  • Mac operating system proficiency highly preferred
  • Experience creating financial statements and managing month, quarter and year end close processes
  • Experience with reserve accounts
  • Experience with sales based royalty calculation
  • Experience with channel sales revenue recognition
  • Experience with accounting system migration/implementation
  • Ability to handle sensitive and complex financial situations, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate
  • Desire to think and impact the organization strategically while operating tactically
  • Experience with Intellectual Property and Channel Sales a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
